Learn how NASA supports agriculture from space to seeds. Commodity Classic attendees are invited to attend a unique behind-the-scenes tour of NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida where they will view upcoming and historic rocket launch pad sites and talk to the scientists and engineers who plan critical space-based missions studying Earth’s agriculture. This event on Tuesday, March 7 is specifically organized only for Commodity Classic attendees. Scheduled activities include:

• A briefing on how efforts on the ground are used to inform Veggie, NASA’s program to grow food in space.
• Updates on NASA’s newest endeavor looking back at Earth, the Earth System Observatory, designed to provide one-of-a-kind views of our home planet as only NASA can provide.

Since 2013, The Nature Conservancy and The Mosaic Company have been working together with farmers to advance 4R nutrient stewardship practices on the farm that improve the environment and help farmers stay productive and profitable. This tour will showcase Florida’s unique and diverse agricultural landscape with two innovative farm families that are improving their land through conservation and 4R nutrient stewardship.
The first stop is Beck Brothers Citrus Farm, 2018 4R Advocates, where we will tour a citrus grove and learn more about the citrus industry and related nutrient programs. The growers will be on hand to answer questions and provide agronomic information. The second half of the tour will be at Southern Hill Farm, a multi-generational family-owned farm that seasonally grows blueberries, strawberries, peaches, and vegetables. The owner-farmers will lead the tour, interact with guests, and answer questions. Lunch will also be provided at Southern Hill Farm.
This tour is free to Commodity Classic attendees on a first come first serve basis. Tour supported by The Mosaic Company and The Nature Conservancy. Lunch and Transportation sponsored by The Mosaic Company. Tour hosted by The Nature Conservancy, Beck Brothers Citrus Farm, and Southern Hill Farm.
